Behind the smiles.

Rumours are spreading,
of a life gone wanting,
morals and values decaying,
chaos and confusion rising,
leaving the weak and aged fighting.

It’s a story of rumours of truths,
AIDS sweeping across the nation,
slaying the able generation,
young girls seeking abortion,
helpless and destitute
they have no option.

Everyday its homicide in the hood,
evil replacing all that is good,
grown men begging for food,
wishing these cruelties will end soon.

They talk in their cells
and whisper in the alleys,
talking of suicide
and scheming for money.

Pregnant mothers prostituting
In the middle of the night,
seeping beer thinking of salvation.

Of friends turned to foes,
Of lovers turned to backstabber,
tomorrow a day not wanted
for life today has gotten so rotten
and all virtues forgotten.

This has become a world
of dry corpses
and vengeance spreading like venom,
for pride has crowded reason.

Keep silent for a while,
you won’t miss the whispers
cause they are already in town.
